Tranport a New Dimension

Hello Everybody:

I've added a new dimension in DEV Environment in this way:

• Download transaction data to file using DM package.
• Delete transaction Data in the model.
• Add new dimension
• Update the transaction data file with the new dimension
• Upload transaction data file to the model.

What I need to do now is transport this new dimension to production system. What are the best way to do it?, considering I dont have the same privileges in that environment.

What Happen if I transport the model selecting only the new dimension?

Hello,

As far as I know you should be able to just add the new dimension to your QA system through BPC transport.  If you are concerned with your transaction data in the production system you can take a backup of your environment.  Also, you can try it in your QA system and after testing everything move it to production.

Adding a dimension to an existing model should be safe.  BPC will take one of the members in the new dimension and use it as a default for all the existing transaction data.  

You can also check note 1976527 which talks about what you can do if an error happens.

Transport was correct in this way:

• Update the transaction data file with the new dimension
• Upload transaction data file to the model.
