I´m trying to install BO-FC 10.0 client in a new machine in my organization. Everything went OK during instalation but when I try to log in, the following message appears:

"The data source manager cannot be started on <MACHINE_NAME>. Check that the machine name and DCOM configuration are correct".

BO-FC 10.0 works fine on other computers, only on this new instalation that I'm facing problems.

I followed this order (that same that I did on previous instalations):

1. UMC 10.0

2. UMC 10.0 SP04

3. FC 10.0

4. FC 10.0 SP03

5. FC 10.0 SP06

6. FC 10.0 SP06 Patch 01

7. FC 10.0 SP08

8. FC 10.0 SP08 Patch 01

9. UMC 4.1

10. UMC 4.1 Patch 01

11. FC 10.0 SP 14

12. FC 10.0 SP 14 Patch 01

I read on others articles in the KB that maybe server and client machines could be on different SP levels .Is there a way to list all the updates installed? They dont seem to appear on 'Add/Remove programs'. What else can I be doing wrong?

Thanks

Hello diogogr ,

Thank you for mentioning your process, indeed missing FC 10.0 SP06 setup and difference between versions on server and client machines can cause this error.

Please also check DCOM configuration chapter of FC Security guide, if you haven't already.

Hello Olga,

Already checked it and I´m using the proper configuration. Any other thoughts? Is there any other way to check this connectivity?

Both machines are on the same domain and I can ping the server from the client machine.

Thanks

Hello diogogr, if both machines are in the same domain, please go through the guide's entire part on DCOM (and choose only what's applicable in your case), and also you could check a recent note 2935323.
