Subscription Billing - Architecture Question

Hello Friends

I have been looking and unable to find information on how Subscription Billing fits in with the larger SAP ecosystem. Some of links do not work and most of the information talks about actual subscription process in general.

I assume Subscription Billing is a stand alone cloud application. How does it fit into BRIM (Subscription Order Management, CC, CI etc.) or upstream SAP CPQ. A high level architecture diagram showing the bigger picture will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Jai,

SAP Subscription Billing is a billing solution but does not include invoicing. It relies on integration with a downstream invoicing solution to issue invoices. It has standard integration with SAP S/4HANA Cloud where you can do the invoicing in either Sales Billing (SD) or Convergent Invoicing, and with S/4HANA Sales Billing on prem/private cloud. It also has standard integration with SAP Business ByDesign for invoicing. For further details see: SAP Help Portal / SAP subscription Billing / Integration. Note also the standard integration with SAP Entitlement Management, and also with SAP CX components CPQ and Commerce.

Given that Subscription Billing manages subscriptions and generates billing line items, you can think of it as a lightweight equivalent of SOM and CC. However it is not using reusing any of these solutions, it's has been developed from the ground up using microservices on the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), formerly known as SAP Cloud Platform.

May you kindly send us a link where we can further get information on how SAP Subscription Billing can be integrated with SD or CI? I am more interested more on how the integration of SB on Cloud with a Sales Billing SD on-premise system can be done.
