SMTP setup in BPC User Option for Distribution Collection of Templates

Hi Experts,

I want to configure the SMTP setup in BPC EPM User Option for enabling Distribution and Collection of Templates. I already have the SMTP configuration done at BW server side for BPF and Workstatus notification and that works successfully. I want to know whether the setup in User option will have the same values for Server, Port etc which are maintained in BW or it will be SMTP server details of the Users Outlook who wants to distribute. Your guidance will be appreciated.

From help: "If you work on a Planning and Consolidation connection and if this connection returns the SMTP server information, you do not need to enter the SMTP information in the User Options."

Hello Vadim,

I read this part from EPM Guide but its a bit fragmented. I need to implement distribution collection through email hence need to set this up. I will keep trying with various options and update if I find something successful. I tried my own Outlook SMTP but it fails to authenticate.

And what do you fill in for user, password etc..?

In general any valid SMTP server can be used with correct credentials...

I filled in my Outlook User credentials and password but it errors out saying could not authenticate. I am not sure about Authentication type (None, Basic, NTLS) so I have been trying all combinations but nothing has worked as such.

Sorry, but why do you think that outook is using smtp?
