SAP Note - 2726240 CPQ Promotions are not supported

Hi ,

While reading through the SAP Note 2726240, I read that

• CPQ Promotions are not supported in scenarios with ERP/VC materials

Can someone please add some more context to this ?
Are we stating that for product replicated from Configurable products replicated from S4 via CPS, we will not be able to create local promotional/ special pricing or upsell-cross sell scenarios on them ?

If the above statement is true, what are the alternatives to run Upsell/ Cross-sell in SAP CPQ ?
