SAP GTS practical experience issue

Hello,

I am from India and an SAP SD consultant with 12 yrs experience. 10 yrs back I had a chance to undergo GTS 100/200 - 3 days course training but after training I did not have opportunity to work in a SAP GTS project till this date today.

Few days back I was interviewed for SAP SD and GTS requirement. I transparently told that I have attended course in GTS 100/200 10 yrs back but no practical exposure. Interviewer told me whether I will be able to manage and I said yes.

Now I have been selected and the role is of a lead functional consultant . Iam required to handle both SD and GTS.

Handling SD is not an issue but now Iam in two minds about GTS.

Isn't it too risky to take the above role without practical experience in GTS ? I also did not do any project as part of 3 days GTS training and some of the theory i have forgotten too but i can go through theory again but again in two minds how to handle GTS part in a live project for a international client and that too as a Lead consultant !

Any advice is welcome ? Should I join and learn on the job. It would be a struggle but again can be a risk.

Hi Sachin,

I Wish you all the Best on your new Role and i hope you can do it.

you have very Good exposure in SAP and that will help you to lead the team. i can understood the issue part of GTS, agree with you on that.

but this is not Rocket science to get scared of it.

i also did my first GTS implementation in 2012 , i even don't know the full form of GTS then. but i have been encouraged, guided by my Competency Head, Delivery Manager and Team who all supported me those days to make it a successful, which gave me confidence on me.
