SAP GTS data migration

Hi All,

During the data migration from legacy system to SAP GTS, what are all data do we need to consider apart from below data for the compliance and customs process,

->Customer/Vendor data from Legacy system to SAP ECC then to GTS

->Product master from Legacy system to SAP ECC then to GTS

->Product classification numbers(ECCN's and HTS codes)

it would be great some one shares the GTS Data migration elements and process etc.

Hi Sunil,

Well, once you know what data you need to replicate from ECC to GTS then you can be in a good position to determine if any of the ECC data has to be actually first migrated from legacy to ECC (if available in the legacy system). If you are clear about what is needed from ECC to GTS, then you can assess further if the data is already in ECC or should be replicated first from legacy system to ECC in order to feed GTS.

Further to this analysis, you may find out that legacy data should or can be "directly" migrated from legacy to SAP GTS e.g. products classifications, standard tools exist for this migration.

For a previous Compliance project, my customer had positive/negative SPL lists in their legacy system and he wanted to migrate this to SAP GTS. In this instance, the migration was directly from legacy to SAP GTS... but without any standard tool. This was a specific requirement of this customer, once we explained him how SAP GTS SPL works.

So I guess that part of the answer to your question is having the customer knowing the master data used by SAP GTS, the manual steps required to maintain this master data in SAP GTS and then assessing if such maintenance of master data is already done in the legacy system so the data can be replicated from legacy system to SAP GTS (with or without standard tools).

Thank you for your response, we are implementing Compliance and Customs modules, my question is more specific to Legacy ERP system data to SAP GTS if any data as part migration, apart from data transfer from ECC to GTS.

Hi Sunil,

Have a look at the GTS cockpit transaction on ECC side calling t-code /n/SAPSLL/MENU_LEGALR3 and then go to the master data tab, you will then have a pretty good idea of the type of master data that can be replicated from ECC to GTS.

That being said, not all of this master data need to be transferred to SAP GTS, it depends on the GTS sub-module you want to deploy. And in some cases, this is not enough to know the type of master data needed, e.g. in some cases BOMs are needed for Compliance Management and other cases not.

What are the sub-modules/processes you would like to deploy in SAP GTS? We will then be able to give you a better answer on the master data needed for the sub-module/process.
