It seems that we cannot maintain the field “user timezone” in the user-master. Other user parameters/variables can be maintained but not this.
So new users have this field blank which can be a problem as then automatically the backend system creates FIN postings based on system time even though the user sits in a different timezone.
Do you have a recommendation for this to find a permanent solution. I want to avoid defining a z-background report that creates/maintains this.

Try to use "USER DEFAULTS" functionality in GRC for automatically pushing the user time zone details. Check following blog for details:

Some additional Information:
User Timezone can be maintained with TC SU01, Tab Default (Table URS02). User Timezone is different to system timezone. System timezone cannot be maintained with TC SU01 (only display).
When using a GRC User Request it should be possible to maintain the "user timezone" or to define a rule to derive timezone (from user location for example).
