SAP CPQ - CPS Document Pricing Integration

I would like to know the standard way of CPQ quotes being created and pricing is maintained in Document pricing instead of Stateless.

I know the way of using REST API, but I would like dig more into the variant pricing(The standard way of getting ) and Response mapping via document pricing.

We are using Quote 2.0
