SAP BPC / SAP BW Upgrade

Hi all,

We did an update of the SAP BW and SAP BPC components:

     SAP BW:    7.31 (SP 9) -> 7.40 (SP 11)

     SAP BPC:  10.0 (SP 3) -> 10.1 (SP6)

Everything is looking good so far except an error while refresing transactional data in an Excel Report. The Connection in Excel to the Server is working fine. We can read and adjust the master data Setting. But when trying to refresh the Report an error occurs.

The Connection has been canceled. We had a look at the error logs but we can't find the reason. Seems like a Proxy Setting on the Server but the relevant gates are open...

Maybe someone of You has an idea. Thanks in advance.

Regards

Derk

Hi Derk

Is it happening for the existing reports only or new reports as well? Are there any short dumps in ST22? Check if SAP Note 1900995 is applicable.

Hi Derk

I have two suggestions for you at this point:

- Check your authorizations

- Check with your Basis/Network team by setting up a trace

Hi Gajendra,

we checked the authorizations. The users have the BW standard roles and the Teams, DAP and UTP are looking good, too. We processed the Migration-Transaction (10.0->10.1) to update the roles/rights. We created some new DAP, UTP and Teams to ensure that the error is not caused by old/incorrect roles/rights objects. Unfortunatly this didn't helped. Error still occurs.

We assume that a configuration setting is not correct for the Server communication. Seems like a request is going into nowhere (invalid Response from upstream Server).

Hi Derk

If nothing is yielding positive results, raise an OSS to SAP.

Hello,

Please install Fiddler on the client machine and capture the trace when the error occurs.  If this happens to all users then investigate the services from the server side.

  1. Run t-code SICF and test the required services.  The post installation steps of the installation guide has some information about the services.
  2. Run t-code SMICM  and from Goto menu select the options to capture the trace file and display the parameters.  The trace should provide information if the call from the client reaches the server and what happens to it.

I hope this helps to narrow the issue.

Hi Leila,

tanks for your hints.

For 2 (SMICM) we found an error log, that is matching to the time when we face the error. We forwarded it to the Hosting Team and hope that they know what is not correct. Besides we will search SNC for that error and of course check your hint 1 (SICF).
