SAP BPC NW 10.1 LIGHT/FULL OPTIMIZE Errors (Not Running)

Hello,

I am attempting to run the LIGHT and FULL Optimize both off of the web client and directly from the SAP GUI (Process Chains).

When I attempt to run it off of the web client it will run within 15-20 seconds and say successful, however nothing has occurred.

If I attempt to execute off of the GUI I will see the following error:

We have implemented BPC via the UJBR for various RDS (Planning) and Starter Kits (Consolidation) and are seeing this issue in all of them both for our internal systems and external systems for clients.

Both the Light and Full Optimization show the same above error and we have made no changes to it (this is the standard delivered process chain), I've included the process chain visually for reference:

Finally I've included our product version/software versions installed:

If anyone has any suggestions or directions as to how this can be resolved as I could not find anything after a search on this website or others, that would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi Jay,

Please test the fresh copy of the ENVIRONMENTSHELL.

Also open transaction SE38 and execute UJS_ACTIVATE_CONTENT.

Select ENVIRONMENSHEL copy and:

- Activate BI Business Content

- Update default DM instructions

Hi Vadim,

Thanks for your response.

I went ahead and entered SE38 and executed UJS_ACTIVATE_CONTENT for ENVIRONMENTSHELL, keeping the Content to 1 and only having the above 2 selections selected.

After successfully completing this I went back into the BPC: Other Functions Process Chains and attempted to execute the BPC: Lite Optimze process chain and am still hitting the same error.

"attempted to execute the BPC: Lite Optimze process chain" - in what model?

Hi,

I was simply attempting to run this directly via the process chain menu in RSA1.

Should I be running this via UJD_TEST_PACKAGE or some other transaction?

Thanks.

Please use standard DM package! And run it for the ENVIRONMENTSHELL copy you created (for any model)! Looks like you are doing something wrong...

Hi Vadim,

This has worked.

I was able to verify after looking at the data set and the number of records decreased.

I will apply this method in all of my environments, much appreciated!

Hi Vadim,

Thanks.

I've run it this way now and it says "succeeded", when I was running it via the web client it was also saying "succeeded", however it was running too quickly to have that level of comfort that this actually occurred.

What is the best way for me to validate that the optimization did indeed work (there aren't enough records for me to see a noticeable difference in performance)?

Thanks.

Just look on results in RSA1.

Create some records modifying some values. As a result for some intersection you will have multiple records:

m1,m2,...,mn,10

m1,m2,...,mn,-5

m1,m2,...,mn,2

After optimization - single record:

m1,m2,...,mn,7

But you need to change parameter - number of open requests...

Look here:
