Hi Experts,

We have a situation here,

Some how the bpc cube has been changed from CAN BE PLANNED to LOADED WITH DATA in the back end.

My questions:

1. Can this mode be changed from the BPC Front end?

2. Or is this a bug in the system, which some time toggle the modes on the cube?

3. Or if at all if any person has changed from the back-end by right click on the cube action, can this be found who has done it?

4. Is there any other possibility which made the cube from planning mode to data load mode?

Please adive

Our system, bpc 10 on HANA. EPM addin 22

Many thanks

Hi Sesha,

To my knowledge, at the time of loading transaction data, system automatically changes it behaviour.

HI Rahul,

Thanks for the quick response..

The user tried to save some data using input form and got an error saying that

Could not perform write (NOT_TRANSACTIONAL) and which was working fine few hrs before.

So I checked the cube properties from RSA1, and it was in loading mode. It only worked after I changed the mode to Plan.

Hi Sesha,

Can you check whether any data is getting loaded or not when user was trying to save data?

Yes Rahul, able to save the data after changing the cube settings to plan.

I am not sure who it got changed its behavior to load data mode from Plan mode. Can we check anywhere in the backend by seeing the logs??

Thanks

Hi Sesha,

Was this model newly created or was the user trying to save data in the model for the first time?

Hi Sesha,

Actually even i don't know how to check the log for this. But one thing you can do is to check the latest request of transactional data, check the start and end time of the data and see the whether user tried to enter data at the same point of time.

This may not be actual way to check but then you can atleast cross check whether the same was happening due to data load or due to any other issue.

Sesha,

I have seen this when a dm package or process chain fails. All you really need to do is set the cube back to planning mode. As Rahul mentioned, the system automatically switches the cube behavior when data is sent to the cube.

1. Can this mode be changed from the BPC Front end?

No .. the system automatically switches the cube status

2. Or is this a bug in the system, which some time toggle the modes on the cube?

Not a bug ... something must have happened during dm package or process chain run

3. Or if at all if any person has changed from the back-end by right click on the cube action, can this be found who has done it?

Yes .. check the logs .. also you can check SLG1

4. Is there any other possibility which made the cube from planning mode to data load mode?

See above

Hope this helps!

Hi guys,

Where did you take it from that BPC Standard changes load mode when data is loaded? This is incorrect.

The only time when load mode is switched is when you run Light Optimization package. If it fails for some reason cube can get stuck in Load Mode. No other delivered Package changes load mode of the cube.

You can go to Process Chain logs and if LO failed around time when user go that error.

Hi All,

I agree with Gersh, this happened when one of my users tried to load the data without knowing that the Light Opt also running at the same time. For your reference this is PC that runs the Light Opt, highlighted steps are the Mode change steps.

Thanks to everyone for the valuable time and suggestions..

Yes, there was a failure in the LO, and it failed before the switch of the mode to plan and it continued to be there and other users tried to save data from the front end/ or load TD package and it got the NON TRANSNATIONAL error

Thanks to Raju, Gersh, Akos..

Cheers
