Hello,
I have just started with new requirement for the Planning.
The Client shared me the reports and Inputs forms they use to upload the Budget data.
The report shows the data in both Periodic Monthly and YTD as below.
So I am confused whether my model should be build as YTD or Periodic?
Considering my Model as Periodic then how can I get YTD Actuals?
| DESCRIPTION | MONTH | YTD | ||||
| Actual | Budget | Variance (%) | Actual | Budget | Variance (%) | |
| XYZ | - | - | 0.00% | - | - | 0.00% |
Please help me in my query.
Regards,
Ravi
Request clarification before answering.
The model can be PERIODIC or YTD for storage type (data input). It depends on business requirements.
But on the report you can show PERIODIC and YTD MEASURES for any model type - measures will perform conversions on the fly.

P.S. Talk with finance to understand why YTD is commonly used for consolidation...

Hi Ravi,
It all depends which measure you will use the most?
usually if its not for consolidation then build a periodic model.
And in the model create YTD custom measure to translate from periodic.

Hi Ravi,
To check whether you model is periodic or YTD.
Goto your model, check general settings, there we have data entry mode
in data entry model you will see your model type.
And to show Actuals data, you can you the MEASURE dimension for YTD and Periodic
