Dear SAP Community,
I need your advice on how to correctly post two documents—an invoice and a credit memo—when the 8% tolerance limit is active. As you know, this setting prevents invoice posting if the difference between the goods receipt (GR) and the invoice receipt (IR) exceeds 8%.
Here is the scenario:
A purchase order (PO) was created for €800.
A GR was posted for €800.
The supplier mistakenly issued an invoice for €2,400, and later issued a credit memo for €1,600 to correct the error.
When attempting to post the €2,400 invoice, SAP throws an error due to the IR exceeding the GR by more than 8%.
My question:
Is the only way to proceed as follows?
Cancel the original GR.
Adjust the PO amount from €800 to €2,400.
Re-post the GR for €2,400.
Post the €2,400 invoice.
Finally, post the €1,600 credit memo.
Is there a better or more efficient approach to handle this situation within SAP?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Best regards,
Tom

Hi @tomkrk , it looks like there is a customized validation on the AP Invoice. To confirm this, go to Administration → System Initialization → General Settings → Services and uncheck the option Enable Transaction Notification.
(Note: This will disable all validations across the system, so it’s recommended to test this only during downtime and re-enable it immediately after the check.)
After that, log out and log back into SAP, then try adding the AP Invoice again. It should post successfully. Once confirmed, you can coordinate with your partner/support team to modify or remove the validation based on your requirements.
