Retraction of Journal data from BPC to ECC

Hi all,

Is it best practice to retract Journals from BPC to ECC?

My understanding is that the journal functionality in BPC caters for quick account changes to facilitate balancing and should not really be retracted to the source system

Is this correct? What are the pros and cons?

Hi Again Vadim,

Can you give me something concrete to take back to the business please?

Basically they are saying that if they create journals in BPC they will end up having a miss match between the Actuals in ECC and BPC if they don't retract the Journal related data

Ups, strange idea to perform adjustments to actual in BPC and then retract the adjustments to ERP...

All actual adjustments has to be done in ECC before data load

And what do the want to adjust? Sample?

Vadim,

When Actuals are loaded into BPC - if there is a discrepancy in balancing accounts then the journals will address the balance ?

Why have the Journals facility in BPC if all adjustments are expected to be made in ECC?

"if there is a discrepancy in balancing accounts" - then it have to be corrected in ECC before reporting in BPC!

Journals and input schedules are used to enter planned data!

Vadim,

I don't think that the use of Journals is restricted to Planned data.

Technically it is possible to select "ACTUALS" when creating the journals. Functionally too it is stated that when it is not convenient to correct and then again re-extract data within ECC ( due to time constraints ), journals can be used to balance the ACTUALS.

Everything is possible from the technical point of view. But from the finance audit point of view - it's not a good idea BPC is not a transaction system - it's for planning and reporting.
