Hi Manny,
in your entity dimension you define individual entities and summation hierarchies. These are simply put, the companies that report data into your system and a way of adding them together, without any consolidation logic as such.
The consolidation logic (elimination of investments) is done via the data stored in your ownership model. This model stores which of the entities belong to which "consolidation view", i.e. which element of your group type dimension.
You can have an element in your group type dimension for each summation level element in your entity dimension and, as Raja wrote, you can build a multi-level hierarchy as well. The group type dimension members defined which groups- and/or subgroups you can consolidate. it is this consolidaiton that includes the investment elimination, again, as per the information in your ownership model.

Arnold

Group dimension are for logical grouping of business units. It can be line of business grouping or region grouping like N.America, S.America, APAC, Europe etc... You can assign currency to group level. Can run legal/Managerial consolidations based on groups. Multiple level consolidation, group level data storage also possible.

Raja
