Refreshing SAP DM Data Cache repository from external XLS file by Content refresh functionality

Hi,

We working on version SAP DM ST 1600.

Data Cache repository is linked to the external XLS files located in shared folder. Defined connection to XLS file is a local connection saved in config 20.xml file on user side.

In this type configuration has no possibility refresh repository Data Cache for all documents linked in chapters. User has to open one by one chapter and refresh it, and after it save.

When user try refresh all data by Content Refresh functionality then system communicate error about connection does not exist in config20.xml file e.g.:" Missing datasource XYZ in config20.xml". Content refresh option using connection defined on server side.

Is the possibility configure connection for xls files located on shared folder and use Content Refresh option available on Data Cache?

Hello marek.boron,

As stated at the top of Content refresh tab: "The content must be linked to an SAP BW system, SAP ERP system or to a Disclosure Management Server." Server content refresh doesn't work for local files update unfortunately.

Also please consider the following: the access to the shared folder files is determined by the user access rights, not the system.

If you have to mass update DM chapters often, I would propose to aggregate many files/chapters into a few, or, if you have to keep many chapters separate, you could check out an option of using SAP iRPA to build a bot that would do the update for you.
