Refreshing big EPM reports X times generate last endless(?) refresh

Hi all,

when refreshing X times (on a specific report X=3) a big report (>50k rows and 10/20 columns) the refresh is fine for the X-1 times but when we refresh for the Xth time the refresh get stuck on the "Report: Writing Report "Defaul Report" - Writing Headers..." phase. I waited for an hour (before taking down Excel) while usually it takes up to 3/4 minutes to refresh that specific report.

This doesn't happen when we follow this sequence:

1. Open Excel

2. Open and refresh Report

3. Close Excel

So basically it's seems that it's linked to some kind of issue with the Excel (Excel is on Citrix). Maybe some kind of memory issue?

Michele

Try to provide details, how it depends on the report size etc...

Hi Vadim,

we did some tests on the same report which has 18 dimension on the row axis and 1 dimension on the column axis (which extracts 2 members, so 2 columns):

1° Test - Filter A: 80k rows. On the second refresh in a row the report get stucked.

2° Test - Filter B: 6k rows. The report never get stucked. Tried more than 30 refresh in a row.

3° Test - Filter C: 30k rows. The report never get stucked. Tried more than 10 refresh in a row.

We did the same test on another report (which has less dimension on the row axis but more on the colum axis) and the result are similar.

Thanks,

Michele

You have to talk with basis team and perform server monitoring!

May be you have memory issues on the citrix server? Test the same with real pc, not using citrix...
