Reason Code Text/Character size limit

Hi Experts,

I have a client requirement wherein they want the character size to be increased in Reason code. Is there a possibility to increase the text limit or any other option that can give them the extra/existing block for more inputs in Reason code?

Hi Nandita,

Reason Code is a standard functionality provided by SAP and you already can input a description up to a length of 255 characters. I suggest not to enhance as this will have impact on GRC functionalities as data element "GRAC_DESC" used for field Reason Code description is quite widely used, changes made to the length of this field would also be activated for all relevant data elements, tables, views, structures etc.. Due to these implications, changing the length of this field is not recommended.

Also, before checking on enhancing the field size, can i know what is the requirement of your client? I have implemented GRC for multiple clients and the reason code length 255 is sufficient to indicate the purpose of FF ID usage and I suggest to adjust the description within the available length.
