Proforma Invoice without stock transaction

Hi All

Can you pay a proforma invoice without having the stock transferred?

As some of the stock coming into my company takes months to be made they do a proforma invoice but will immediately show this count in stock but will obviously get counted as not there in a stocktake.

Is there any way to delay the transaction until it can be GRd?

Your question is not very clear. What I understand is that you get a performa invoice upfront, based on which you want to pay. But the stock would arrive much later. If I get it correct, why don't you show the payment made earlier as a down payment on the PO and you could book invoice when the stock is received followed by invoice. You could than clear the invoice against the down payment made already.
