Hi Gurus,
We recently upgrade from SAP BPC 7.5 to 10 NW. and we noticed that some of the dimensions are blank(Master Data) in BPC web admin.
Using RSA1 we found out that those affected dimensions are having ≠ sign. and the version instead of active is set to revised
During the migration process, our migration team notice error in the log file:
Due to this, we are unable to log in to excel and encountered "Sequence contains no elements". We tried to manually activate the affected dimensions but it was terminated quickly.
Appreciate your help as always on how to resolve this issues.
Thanks as always,
yajepenati.

Hi Yajepenati,
Have you tried to add a member into the dimension from web admin? then process the dimension again.

Hi yajepenati,
Can you try activating those InfoObjects in BW and check if gives any errors?

Hi Gersh,
I see. Would these be enough?
I can't screenshot in one image so i got two images, i just scrolled it down to complete the list. I've noticed that the HLEVEL attribute is not the same as others and also the Version is set to "REVISED". Can it be causing the issue?
Please advise on the next step.
Thanks as always,
yajepenati
Hi Gersh,
We manage to delete that HLEVEL and able to Activate the dimension, but still dimension members cannot be seen in web admin. Even the program refresh dim cache got the same error as before, the only difference is that the affected dimensions are now active.
What should be the next step after deleting that HLEVEL?
Thanks as always,
yajepenati
Hi yajepenati,
Please check first if you have data in the InfoObject.
Next check if you have data in BPC cache table. Name of that table is derived from tech name of the InfoObject. If InfoObject name is /CPMB/ABCDEFG then cache table name will be either /1CPMB/ABCDEFG or /1CPMB/BABCDEFG.
Next check if you have field HLEVEL in that cache table.
Please let me now the results.
Regards,
Gersh
Hi Gersh,
Here are my response:
a.) Please check first if you have data in the InfoObject. - Yes, There are data.
b.) Next check if you have data in BPC cache table. - Only 1 data, this data is the one I added for testing. rest of the old data are not there.
c.) Next check if you have field HLEVEL in that cache table. - Yes, HLEVEL field is present in the cache table.
Thank you for your patience and responses.
Thanks as always,
yajepenati
Hi yajepenati,
It looks like you have to remove HLEVEL field from the cache table and run REFRESH DIMENSION program after that. You'll probably need an authorization key to remove that field.
But something is wrong with your migration process - that HLEVEL should not be there in either of those objects.
Regards,
Gersh
Hi Gersh,
If not too much to ask, can you please guide me on how to delete that HLEVEL in the cache table?
we manage to delete HLEVEL in /CPMB/abcd but we dont have idea on how to remove it from /1CPMB/abcd/ table.
Does it impact anything? or any notes to apply to avoid this steps? if not appreciate if you can guide me how to delete that HLEVEL.
Thanks as always,
yajepenati
Hi yajepenati,
To remove the field you have to go t/a SE11, enter the table name and click "Change". System will ask you for authorization key; you can ask your Basis person to generate one for you.
You can have more than one cache table for same Dimension, like text, hierarchies, etc. All their names start from same characters, only the last character is different. I don't think that those other table could have HLEVEL field, but it's worth checking. When you change it for 1 Dimension it shouldn't affect any other Dimensions, but since you have this issue with all Dimension you'd have to repeat it multiple times.
I'd love to point you to an OSS Note, but your SP is far beyond OSS Note that fixed it 4 years back.
I'd recommend removing the Environment and try migrating it again and if same issue occurs again just open an OSS Incident and let developers to look why this is happening.

Gersh
Hi Gersh,
Pardon me for my multiple messages, we manage to delete the HLEVEL in the cache table, but after deletion, we noticed that the Company dimension was link to another cache table with HLEVEL again and the cache table that we deleted does not exist anymore. Did you encounter this behavior?
Its like everytime we delete that HLEVEL in cache table, it'll just create another table with HLEVEL on it.
SAP still investigating but appreciate if i could use more of your help.
Thanks as always,
yajepenati
Hi yajepenati,
I'm not sure I understood what you are experiencing. What do you mean that one table is linked to another table.
When you change something in the structure of a Dimension, BPC regenerates the cache table. At that time name of the table changes from /1CPMB/... to /1CPMB/B... and back. Is that what you are seeing?
If not, can you please provide more info.

Gersh
Hi Gersh,
Let say that i have a tech name for a company dimension /CPMB/ABCDEFG/ then it has cache table /1CPMB/ABCDEFG/. in this cache table we deleted HLEVEL then after deletion. when we go to se11 or se16 we couldn't find the cache table /1CPMB/ABCDEFG instead we are seeing another generated cache table for company dimension which is /1CPMB/BBBDEFG/ with the HLEVEL.
So im afraid that if we delete HLEVEL in cache table /1CPMB/BBBDEFG/ again it'll create another cache table as a replacement having HLEVEL attribute.
I hope I described the scenario in a clear way.
Thanks as always,
yajepenati
Hi Gersh,
Yes, I believe we activated the table after deletion see below:
Then after this, when I go to SE16 to check for /CPMB/YND8ZJI/ the cache table that link to this is this
also when I tried to look for cache table /1CPMB/YND8ZJI/, it says it doesn't exist.
Should I go to cache table /CPMB/BYND8ZJI/ to try and delete again the HLEVEL?
Thanks as always,
yajepenati
Hi Gersh,
Sorry for the confusion, what I am saying is that, prior the deletion of HLEVEL, the cache table of Company Dimension is /1CPMB/YND8ZJI, then after the deletion, it was replaced by /1CPMB/BYND8ZJI. and this /1CPMB/BYND8ZJI table contains HLEVEL.
When I tried to look for /1CPMB/YND8ZJI, the system says it doesn't exist. .
That is why I still cannot run the refresh dim cache.
Thanks as always,
yajepenati
Hi yajepenati,
Name of the table can switch from /1CPMB/YND8ZJI to /1CPMB/BYND8ZJI only if you re-activate the Dimension in BPC Admin. Have you done that after you removed that field?
If you did that, can you please check what you have in table UJA_DIM_ATTR for that Dimension? You should have a record with TECH_NAME = HLEVEL. Can you please check what that record has in F_GENERATE field?
Regards,
Gersh
Hi Gersh,
I think that did the trick! We manage to retrieve all the members of Company dimension in Web admin and the refresh dim cache is working as well. I need to do all these in the affected dimensions.
Thanks.
For the record, these are the steps we did with your help of course:
Hope it doesn't affect anything since we do all this in sap gui and not via web admin.
Thank you for your awesome help!
Thanks as always,
yajepenati
Actually I don't think you need the 1st step. As soon as you change the value of F_GENERATE, BW InfoObject and cache table should be generated correctly.
I can't guarantee that this won't affect anything. I'd advice to provide all this info in the OSS incident you've opened and let them check with the developer if what we did is fine.
I just found KBA 1893017 that talks about same issue, but it doesn't provide the full solution. It seems like there is a bug in migration program that has to be fixed.
Regards,
Gersh
