Packaging data inheritance on Import Declaration from Customs Shipment

Hello Experts,

In continuation to the question asked in the following link(https://answers.sap.com/questions/596915/index.html), how would the packaging data be inherited from Customs Shipment onto the Customs Declaration while generating the same?

Looked at the following threads from the past that didn't quite help:

https://archive.sap.com/discussions/thread/1812969

https://archive.sap.com/discussions/thread/3674164packaging-data-on-imp-decl.jpg

Lastly, the developer came back with by doing an enhancement in the following object:

  • Class: /SAPSLL/IF_EX_CUHD_PROP
  • Method: ITEM_LEGPGE_PROPOSE
  • Description: Suggest pack data for Customs clearance / declaration.

With this implementation though he was only able to bring in the Package type and Number of packages from the preceding Customs Shipment while the Package number itself being generated by SAP code with a combination of Item# and Sequence# for the line item getting processed.

Wanted to know if there is also a way to inherit the Package number from the Customs Shipment document?

Thanks,

Prashant

Hi Prashant,

Unfortunately there is no link for packaging data between the Customs Shipment and the Customs Declaration.

Before you embark on any big developments and "code-hacks", it could be worth asking the business users to check with their contact at the Customs Authority. GTS generally creates Import Declarations after the goods have already been received, whereas Customs' interest in the packaging is usually based on the potential for inspection before receipt. After a friendly discussion, they might find that it's not vital to include the exact packaging details in the GTS Declaration.

Dave
