ML currency change during migration ( Bluefield)

HI Experts,

Could you please help with below query,

Its a S/4HANA migration (blue field) project. In ECC the currency set up is 10,30 and 40. Same  has been assigned to ML currency as well.

in S/4HANA client need to bring group valuation with group currency. So currency type 31 need to bring in.

My questions

1) Whether I can change the ML currency from 10,30, 40 to 10, 30,31 in S/4HANA. If yes, any impact to the ML values during data migration.

2) Any insights to data copying to S/4HANA would be really helpful in above case

3) Whether its mandatory to keep same ML currency setup in FINSC_LEDGER, 1st, 2nd and 3rd currency set up. In below fields;

to elaborate, ML currency in S/4HANA need to be 10,30,31. So whether I need to keep same 10,30,31 here or can i keep 10,30,40.

10,30,40 will help to keep BSEG values in ECC to be copied in S/4HANA.

Below is my in-line response.

1. Can we change ML currencies from 10/30/40 → 10/30/31?	Yes, but only BEFORE migration and only via SAP standard conversion framework. You cannot change ML currency types after data load. It impacts ML values because ML is reinitialized during migration.
2. Any impact during the migration?	Yes. ML tables are not copied 1-to-1; SAP recalculates opening inventory values and recreates ML structures in S/4HANA based on the new currencies.
3. Do FINSC_LEDGER currencies have to match ML currencies?	Yes — in S/4HANA they must match. If ML uses 10/30/31, FINSC_LEDGER must also be 10/30/31. You cannot keep 10/30/40 for BSEG continuity. SAP automatically converts old BSEG values to the new currency types.
