Messages in Communication - Customs Declaration

Hi

I want to understand the steps why my message in communication tab for export declaration is populating, and also how can I see the message log for ascertaining what could have gone wrong? I referred the https://archive.sap.com/discussions/thread/3657924

and tried to follow the direction but failed to populate and also tried to see where is the scroll like icon, could not find. Can any one help please?
