Hi Experts
We have a requirement to setup matrix security for Entity and Category combinations. I understand this feature is only available in Embedded rather than Standard.
Anyone have any ideas as to a solution to address?
For clarity – User 1 would have access to CATEGORY=ACTUAL and Entity 1,2,3 and for Category = WORKPLAN only Entity 2. Etc.
Any ideas?
I saw UJ_VALIDATION rules or limiting in the INPUT forms but this is not restrictive enough as users may use the same form for different categories.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Eyal,
Standard model does not support Matrix security. Validation rules are not a good substitute for authorizations, their purpose is to guide users and to improve data quality. Also, validations don't prevent users from seeing data in a report.
In case of a matrix organization, the standard workaround is to use a dimension that combines e.g. company and profit center. This approach might not suit your purposes well. Another way, which I really don't like, is to use separate user ID's for different roles. If matrix security is a show stopper, you have one more reason to consider using the Embedded model.
