Market Segments Apps showing unusual fiscal periods

Hello Experts,

in the Apps Market Segment Acutal & Market Segment Plan/Acutal. The system is allowing strange choices for the fiscal period.

Using the entry help for 'fiscal period' suggests entries ranging from 0 to 366:

If I enter a 'strange' period I get the following message

The regular periods 1-9 are working just as intended, also 1-14 for last year.

Could you kindly explain the what is going on, so I can forward your answer to my wondering customer.

Dear @Philipp_Huppert,

the periods of a fiscal year span across all period variants and the value help shows all of them. There are different period variants, and some have 366 periods (one period for each day).
The value help is based on CDS View I_FiscalPeriodForVariant.

The assignment of which period variant is used is linked to the company code. However, this dynamic is not built into the VDM for the value help. Here, it is statically driven by master data, based on all possible period variants in the customizing, rather than being dependent on transaction data regarding which period variants are actually used.

Hello @Susanne_Helbig, thank you for your input. Since these fiscal year variants are not used by the customer but shown i can however recommend to ignore them. TZhank oyu for your answer.
