Issue in Chrome opening an iXBRL preview

Dear SAP export,

I found in SAP note 3237131 - Google Chrome browser might run out of memory loading large iXBRL Previews something that makes me worry. This note deals with a restrinction of RAM memory in Google Chrome, so that several large iXBRL previewers could not be open. An out of memory message is showed. SAP notes offers two solution: 1) use Firefox instead of Chrome or Edge and 2) increase the RAM memory by yourself.

I fear this should be a problem because the iXBRL previewer is for market publication and so it would be opened by external user, like investors or financial analyst, that cannot increase RAM memory by theirselves. Moreover I am not sure that Firefox is so widespread to replace Chrome or Edge.

Do you think it would be other solution? I try to open, using Chrome, two different iXBRL preview, the first created from SAP DM and the second from a competitor software. The first failed to open whereas the second one was opened without any errors.

Thank a lot,

Andrea

Hi a.migliore

Yes, we're aware of this - and it really is due to how the instance gets created in DM (i.e. for text-blocks, there are many <span>...</span> and <ix:continuation>...</ix:continuation> tags)

However, the solution for this is not that simple and we are reviewing how this can be addressed effectively.
