Invoice Document Not Released on Time – Background Job Issue

Hi everyone,

I’m investigating an issue where a billing and invoice document was expected to be released on November 30, 2023. However, the system released the document on December 4, 2023, via a background job. Typically, both the billing and the invoice are released together, but in this case, only the billing was released, and the invoice was not. I am trying to determine why the invoice was not processed as expected.

Here’s what I have checked so far:

• Looked into CDHDR/CDPOS to check for changes but didn’t find anything significant.
• Compared customer master data and found that only the payment terms (ZTERM) are different.
• Tried finding the relevant G/L account for sales documents but encountered limitations due to missing line item display configuration.
• Checked OB52 and OB52B to see if the period was open but didn’t find logs of changes.
• Investigated whether the issue is related to sales, billing, or financial posting, but nothing unusual stood out.

Meanwhile, does anyone have recommendations on what else I should check?

On your statement

only the billing was released, not the invoice.

for me, both are same.  Is it that invoice and billing are different document types in your case ?

Edit and clarification: Typically, once a sales order is released the billing document is created overnight through a background job but at this time there is delay; I am searching for the reason behind that (Sales order: 2023.11.29 & billing 2023.12.04)
