In S/4HANA Public Cloud why do we select a period if we want to do consolidation for the full year?

 Dear All,
I am trying to implement Group Reporting in SAP S/4HANA public edition based in 1SG test script.

Could you help why do I need to select a period if we want to do the consolidation for the full fiscal year?
It is still in the Set Global Parameters Configuration?
Also, when I save this in the configuration why isn’t a transport request created?

Thank you and best regards,

Hello dear user,

And thank you for asking the questions in the SAP community.

Here’s some answers that you can take into consideration :

  1. Why do they need to select a period if they want to do consolidation for the full fiscal year?

In SAP Group Reporting, the period selection is required because consolidation happens at a specific time period level, even if the goal is to consolidate for the full fiscal year.

Period 12 (as shown in the screenshot) represents the final period of the fiscal year, meaning all data up to that point is considered.

SAP requires period selection for each run, even if the full fiscal year is included. This ensures proper periodic closing and adjustments are captured accurately.

  1. Why isn’t a transport request created when saving this configuration?

In SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, certain configuration settings are client-specific and stored locally, not requiring a transport request.

The Set Global Parameters configuration in Group Reporting is typically a business configuration setting, meaning it is maintained directly in the system without being transported across tenants.

Unlike On-Premise SAP, where configuration is moved using transports, SAP Cloud Public Edition relies on Central Business Configuration (CBC) or other cloud-based mechanisms for managing settings across environments.

I hope those elements will help you answer your question.

Best regards,

Jeremy
