in EPM10.1 what is the purpose of having "Send parent data to the server"

BPC/EPM concept not to save data at parent level, then why in user options "Send parent data to the server" option is by default enabled, with this setting user facing problem while saving data, as the data will be sit at parent level.

First - your primary tag is incorrect, how your question is related to "public sector"????

Second: With Save parent enabled you can intercept parent data using write back badi and perform disaggregation for example.
