How to Lock cells outside an EPM report in SAP BPC 10

Hi Experts,

I am trying to lock the cells on my worksheet that lie outside the EPM report and contain logic to override dimensions in axis. I locked these cells using normal excel feature of locking excel cells through format cells and then tried protecting worksheet using both excel as well as EPM protection.

When I tried using excel protection functionality, I got error while refreshing the EPM report and when I tried using EPM protection functionality, it locked everything on my report and not just the cells that I had locked. Using latter option, I couldn't even select any cell on the report/worksheet

Request you to please advice on how can I lock these cells that are not part of my EPM report.

First - use ONLY EPM protection!

Second - for report area locking use Formatting Sheet with EPM lock for the required cell

Third - for the cells outside the report - set lock in Excel Format Cell.

P.S. If your report is 100% static (constant number of rows and columns) you can avoid using Formatting sheet and simply set Excel Format Cell-> Protection-> No lock to the data input area.

P.P.S. In Excel all cells of the worksheet have status locked by default!
