Hi Sonam,

First of all you want to load Master Data from BW system into BPC or you want to load directly into BPC. What is the message which you are getting when you are trying to connect to Excel Add in.

Hii Raghu,

I want to load master data directly from Excel sheet to  BPC System.

When I am trying to connect with Excel Add in,It shows the message that "The environment 'Application set for sales planning demo' is unavailable. You are not authorized to connect."

But I am able to access it in Admin interface.

Hi Sonam,

have you checked if the "Application Set Status" is "available" in admin console?

Kind regards

Hi Sonam,

Is Application Set "Sales Planning Demo" is available in the system. If yes then do you have access to it. Also is someone able to connect to Excel Add in. I mean is it User specific or System specific.

Hii Raghu,

I am trying to create a test Environment in BPC 10.I have performed migration of  existing appset in BPC 10.I just migrate File Serivces, because my master data contains some special characters .Now I have modified that excel sheet of existing master data and I want to load it this Environment.

I don't know much about BPC 10.

I am able to access this Sales Demo in Admin Interface of BPC 10.But not able to access it in Excel.

This is user specific.

Hi Sonam,

Please check whether you have access to connect to EPM Add in. Try selecting different Appset and see if you can connect.

Hi Sonam,

I think it's relating to authorization. Could you please once again check with access part with your Environment. In the back end BW system check whether your Environment has Models in it.

Definitely sounds like an authorisation issue.

Do you have 'Planning and Consolidation Administration' button when you log in to the web admin client? If so, click it and go to your model, check whether any dimenions are checked as 'secured' in the model, and if they are - check the data access profile tab that you do not have 'no access' for any dimension. This will cause the Model to be unavailable when you try to connect.

If this does not work, I would recommend walking through all the security to ensure you are in an Admin team, the Admin team has a task profile for full access to all activities, and again check data access profile has full access (if any model dimension secured).

You may need to ask someone experienced with BPC user management to check your settings.

Once your authorisation is OK, you can click the 'EPM Office Add-in Excel' link on the home tab to launch the excel client. If your model, authorisation and EPM Add-in are all OK you will have a popup to select which model connection you want.

Questions
Are you master data loading from flat file, or BW infoobject
Have you ever done dataloading before?
Are you familiar with transformation and conversion files?

Hi Experts,

I am facing another issue during this.Previously I was not able to get models in the list ,when i was trying to connect with Excel. But when I have unchecked  secure option in dimensions of that model in Admin Interface then I am able to access that model in Excel.

Can anyone explain why it is happening and how I can access model with secure dimension in Excel.

Hi Sonam - I can tell you why.

Securing a dimension means that you can apply security access to the members within that dimension. For example, you may want to assign a team that has access to entities PC_001 and PC_002, but not any of the other 100 profit centres.

To do this, you need to secure the dimension then configure the user / team and importantly data access profiles for the users.

In BPC 10, if a dimension is secured you need to go to the Admin tab, then Securty folder, then Data Access Profiles tab. Click on a Model listed, then you will see: Access to Model: [Model name] on the right.

When you secured the dimension, it automatically gave no access to it so there wasn't a security breach. You need to set the dimension you locked so that users can have read/write/R&W access.

Hope this helps... how do you give forum points on this new SCN design!?

Hi Reghu,

No one is able to access Excel  in that environment.

I have activated the Environment in BW by executing UJS_ACTIVATE_CONTENT program.

As I previous told you that I have done this by migration so  is it possible that this error is due to that procedure?

I have followed this link for migration ..

http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/60b63bb0-570d-2f10-f686-a5147f663...

Is anything else is required after that migration to access the excel.I have just migrate File Services and Meta Data through that given procedure.

Hi Sonam,

I'm not sure what could be reason, may be relating to migration from 7.5 to 10.0 I guess. Well the last option would be to open a message with SAP Support.

Hi Sonam,

Is the Environment activated in the BW system when it was created. Apart from you is some one able to access the Environment.
