How to load actual data from SAP BW 7.5 to BPC 10.1 for NW

Dear Expert, I know there are two methods to load data into BPC from BW:

1. using BW technology (transformation directly into the BPC cube)

2. using data manager in EPM Add-in

The second option seems to be the technologically most complicated solution as the data must be saved to a file first which seems rather stupid when both the source and target is in the same database.

The first option is very simple, but evades the data validation rules in BPC. We also see that transformations are not transported with the cube as a part of the BPC application, even if the transformation can't be transported without the cube.

What do you do? What is the most common way to load data, and why?

Best regards,

Locnpt

"The second option seems to be the technologically most complicated solution as the data must be saved to a file first" - incorrect understanding! johnnbc correctly mentioned the chain /CPMB/LOAD_INFOPROV_UI that will perform direct import from BW infoprovider to BPC cube without any text file.

In the recent BPC versions it's also possible to load from composite infoprovider that can be based on custom HANA view.

Using data manager package /CPMB/LOAD_INFOPROV_UI to import directly into BPC from the InfoCube is the traditional way as it uses BPC functionality

These days with HANA using AMDP is a common method (often triggered using the start_routine)

Only use flat files when importing from external sources and never use BW transformations because they stop BPC processes like Optimisations and altering model structure
