How to implement SAP BPC without EPM Add-In

Hi,

Our Client wants to implement SAP BPC 10.1 Classic / Standard and Users wants to use only Web Reports. And all the users are using IMac which will not support EPM Add-In.

I know that it is possible to implement SAP BPC without EPM Add-In.

Request you to share some documents or SAP Help links.

Thanks

Sekhar

Sorry, but the main benefit of BPC is the ability to use Excel EPM reports and input forms.

Web reports/input forms are VERY limited! Also - no way to run DM packages... I can't recommend this approach.

Hi Vadim,

Thanks for the information. You are correct. This approach is not recommended but this is client requirement, have no other option available.

In my view, as long as we know the limitations of SAP BPC in this approach and client requirements, we can do it.

Thanks

Sorry, but the best option is to tell the client truth: BPC without EPM is a waste of money!

BPC web reports are absolutely primitive, for example you can get data for budget and actual, but you can't compare figures using formulas 🙂

Same for input forms - only for simple data entry!

Without data manager packages you can't move data between models, perform calculation etc...

Try to play yourself!

Hello Sekhar,

Please refer to the Help Guide :

https://help.sap.com/viewer/a2049170bfeb4178ace32222842c3ec1/10.1/en-US/cd8906d6ff224496ae2b5c979455...

To see the functionality of creating reports from Web and see if it will feet your business needs or not.

As long as you won't need to run data manager packages from EPM or make deeper calculations from EPM that will be ok with your client. You must know exactly what your client is expecting.

Best Regard

Dorra.

Hello,

We have very, very few customers who use only web based reports, but it is possible and there is no special preparation required. Just start creating your reports and input forms, as long as, you know the limitations. With web based reports, what you see is what you get, no fancy calculations or formatting and no data manager package capability or offline distribution and so on.

Hi Leila,

Thanks for the information. Will it be possible to share some weblinks / recommend some SAP notes for better understanding of limitations of this.

Thanks

Hi,

As I said the UI is very simple, there is no special functions like EPM Add-in. You can simply assign dimension to rows, columns and page axis and select members. Here are some notes and KBAs. I also found a number of online sources that demonstrate how to create a web report.

  1. BPC 10.1 help - Library (from here you can go to creating report)
  2. 2193471 - BPC NW 10.0/10.1 Report Troubleshooting guide - Performance and Incorrect Results
  3. 1783295 - Details of Note 1782951 - Generic format for Web Report link

Hi,

Maybe you can consider SAP Analytics Cloud to generate reports.
