Hi All,
Please let us if RFCs need to be established between ECC and GTS in S4 HANA since its natively integrated in S4 Business suite
Request clarification before answering.
Chhavinath, the statement you used "GTS is natively integrated in S4 sutie", is not entirely correct.
As per the published roadmap from SAP, GTS will continue to exist as a separate product and S/4 HANA will have more and more GTS like functionality under "International Trade". As of now, Compliance Management and Intrastat, these are 2 functionality available in S/4 HANA International Trade. There is no Customs Management and Risk Management yet.
Now coming back to your questions. If you plan to use S/4 HANA International Trade functionality then you don't need the RFC connections and replication of master data / documents. Configuration will still be needed to setup the legal regulations, numbering schemes, license types, etc. If you plan to use GTS, then you would need the connections setup from S/4 HANA (same story as of ECC).
Hope that helps.

Hi Chhavi Nath,
As per my knowledge when you are moving to S/4 HANA Database, then you need to do all required configurations again to connect with SAP GTS System.
1. Do we need to maintain all configs from scratch in S4 HANA with respect to GTS international trade ? Yes, you need to do all Configurations again in S/4 system.
2. Are RFC connections required between with in S4 Suite & GTS with in S4 HANA ( eg.. logical system and logical system group creation , BD64, BD97 etc ? Yes, you need to do again all the customizations because you are going to use new database S/4 HANA.
3. How data exchange will happen ( Customers/Vendors) between SD/MM and GTS in S4 ?
The Master Data will be transferred through Change pointers and Transactional Data after activation of BAdis and through RFC.
Hope you are clear now.
Thanks,

Hi Kaushik,
Thanks for quick response.
Currently we have a separate box for GTS and connected to multiple ECC systems. And my client planning to migrate from ECC to S4 in next few months, hence we are doing pre study for the future system. Since GTS is natively integrated in S4 sutie,
1. Do we need to maintain all configs from scratch in S4 HANA with respect to GTS international trade ?
2. Are RFC connections required between with in S4 Suite & GTS with in S4 HANA ( eg.. logical system and logical system group creation , BD64, BD97 etc ?
3. How data exchange will happen ( Customers/Vendors) between SD/MM and GTS in S4 ?
Thanks in Advance

Hi cndubey,
Do you mean that you have migrated your ECC to S/4 & now you would like to reconfigure for GTS. Are you facing any error. You details are very low. You know that in GTS system not only you have RFC, there are a lot of areas to check for the ECC entries & same goes for the S/4 system as well. But then again if you have only migrated the ECC to S/4, then from RFC prospective it should be fine. Maybe from functional side, you would need cross-verify the functions as the functions in ECC all are not same in S/4
Thanks,
Kaushik
