Ledger 4G is the result of activating scope item Group valuation (5w2), refer to link for details, and please understand the restrictions and prerequisite of 5W2, check https://me.sap.com/notes/3093830

For your question, please refer to help doc for ledger 4G in asset accouting for potential missing config steps.

Hello @GerhardK ,

Thank you for sharing the error message.  You mentioned that you had configured the 3 Ledgers 0L, 2L and 4G, but 4G might not be fully activated! Please follow the instructions below

The main Cause:

  • In SAP S/4HANA Cloud, additional ledgers (like 4G) must be configured before legacy data transfer and must be actively available in the Asset Accounting (FI-AA) settings across all systems.
  • Transports in S/4HANA Cloud may not automatically carry all ledger-dependent settings, particularly for Asset Accounting.
  • The Ledger Group / Ledger Settings under Asset Accounting (IMG > Financial Accounting > Asset Accounting > Organisational Settings) need to be consistent across Dev, Test, and Production.
  • Likely, 4G was not activated or assigned correctly to the company code/chart of depreciation level in the Test system.

Solution Steps:

You need to manually activate 4G Ledger for Asset Accounting in the Test system.

Here’s exactly what to do:

Check Ledger 4G Configuration:

  • Go to SSCUI / App: “Manage Your Solution”.
  • Navigate to Finance > Asset Accounting > Organizational Settings.
  • Check if Ledger 4G is assigned to your Company Code and Chart of Depreciation.

If Ledger 4G is missing:

  • Open SSCUI / App: “Specify Ledger for Accounting Principle”.
  • Check if Accounting Principle for Ledger 4G is correctly mapped.
  • If not, create/match the mapping manually in Test system.

Activate Ledger Group Settings:

  • In Asset Accounting Settings, activate the ledger 4G under “Ledger Settings for Asset Accounting.”
  • Ensure that 4G has the Fiscal Year Variant and Planning Ledger filled out.

Transport again or Manual Fix:

  • In S/4HANA Cloud Public, a manual adjustment is sometimes required because some objects are not automatically transported (due to restrictions in Cloud Control Center).
  • After manual adjustment, use “Consistent Check” to validate Asset Accounting settings.
  1. Perform Data Reconciliation:
  • After fixing, run reconciliation reports between General Ledger and Asset Accounting (e.g., FAGLGVTR) to ensure everything matches.

Please Note:

If you have already started a Legacy Data Transfer in the Test system, reset the transfer and redo it after the ledger fix.

Otherwise, the system will not allow changing the ledger setup after initial asset postings.

Official SAP Help reference for your case:

SAP Help: Additional Ledgers in Asset Accounting (S/4HANA Cloud)

You need to activate Ledger 4G manually in the Asset Accounting settings of the Test system under “Organisational Settings” and check the ledger-accounting principle mapping.

If Legacy Transfer has already started, reset it first.

Let me know if it works

Thank you, and kind regards

Chuma
