Dear BPC experts,
We have many BPC7.5 reports that we are still using them even though we upgraded to BPC10 last year. Most of the time the EVDRE reports worked fine.
Unfortunately in a few EVDRE reports would show "The Active Connection is Null" and NO EPM panel will be available in these EVDRE sheets. (although I am logged in and in some sheets in the same workbook I can still see the EPM panel)... The EPM "Refresh" or "Expand" button are greyed out completely.
I tried many things, including setting up a new EVDRE report on the same sheet, but nothing worked.
It seems that EPM has decided that the worksheet is NOT an EVDRE report (but it was!). But strangely it is NEITHER a Excel worksheet, as no worksheet option is available (only Workbook option is available - which is typical for a active EVDRE report)...
Other symptoms:
* One strange thing was that one of the reports was working happily a few days ago using on the same connection but failed totally today.
* Refresh metadata does nothing
* Clear metadata cache does nothing
* in some of the EPM reports that we constructed (not EVDRE), we encountered two times similar problems with a EPM report that the "Edit report" editor is completely greyed out and we could not do anything but to rebuild the report completely.
Has anyone encountered similar issues and found a solution? If so I would appreciate very much if you could share the solution.
Any other suggestions/insights would be much appreciated too.
Thank you very much for your time and attention on this.
Kind regards,
Ken

Hi Ken,
If you have migrated to 10 version, I still wonder why are you still using the EVDRE reports??? Complex to be build in 10??. SAP also recommends to migrate all the EVDRE reports in EPM since all the functions and options are not supported.
Maybe in your case it worked for some days.....and now its giving you an alarm to migrate them in EPM.... . This is my suggestion!
Please refer to below threads for templates information https://scn.sap.com/thread/3179196
Have you recently updated the EPM Add-In?

Thank you JP for your suggestions.
Unfortunately, some of our reports are quite complex and BPC10's EVDRE migration tool just could not handle it....
We tried to use the tool to convert a few and the success rate was really low... It would take many man-hours to make sure all EVDRE reports can be migrated to EPM type....
Our EPM Add-in is 10.0 SP23 Patch 2 .Net 4 Build 9306
I do not understand why SAP would not fully support EVDRE in BPC10. Can you imagine that when MS upgrades to the next version of Excel, your Excel file will not work (or will not work smoothly without some attention) and you have to manually "migrate"?
Thanks again.
Ken
Hi Ken,
Complex build EVDRE reports are not migrated by Migration tool unfortunately.....I understand how much efforts it takes to build a new report again in EPM, but then as Consultant's we don't have any other option but to create a new one in EPM manually..... Migration in itself is a whole new implementation like project to work on!
There are some new functionalities in EPM which are given as a replacement of EVDRE functions....try to use that.
Refer this thread for documents suggested for EVDRE migration...http://scn.sap.com/thread/3250371
Hope this helps....
Regards,
JP
