Hi
We are on EPM v20 SP10 Patch1 and we access the EPM via Citrix.
Using EPM Add-In deployed on SAP Portal, We are trying to find a way to automatically launch a custom workbook on launch of Excel. Currently when we launch EPM Add-In, it launches Excel with EPM Add-In and SSO, but opens a blank workbook named Book1. We want to be able to launch a custom workbook.
Is there a way to launch a custom workbook when EPM launches excel?
I apologize if I'm not using the right terms to describe the issue. I am new to this. Please let me know if you need more information.
Thanks
Manoj

Hello,
I don't think that is currently possible. May I ask what is purpose of this is?
If you are concerned with giving users access to only some functions, then I think you can use security profile to limit the users' access. If you would like to open a series guided tasks then you can achieve this by using BPF.

Hi Leila
Thank you for your response.
The users currently have a long access path with about 5 clicks to get to the report after they have been logged on to EPM. We aim to eliminate the need for users to navigate through the EPM tab > Open > Server Root folder > sub folder > report, everytime they want to open BPC.
If we are able to auto-launch the workbook they need open, we could avoid the 5 clicks.
I couldn't find much information on the EPMActiveXObject to see what parameters I could pass while launching the office client Excel. Any information on this too would be helpful.
Thanks
Manoj
Hi Manoj,
As Vadim said this is not possible in exactly the way you want. However, BPF is a way to get very close to your objective.
The feature you are looking for was part of BPC pre-SAP time and when BPC was all excel based. When users logged in they were presented with a custom menu containing links to all other tasks they needed to do. They clicked on the links next to each task and it would take them to the excel sheet they wanted. This was called custom menu and it has evolved to BPF in today's version.
With BPF a user can quickly get to the list of activities they are responsible for and each task within the activity is just one click away. The user does not to know any details about the name of the report or input or where to open it from. All that information is already defined in a BPF activity. BPF will also allow organizing the sequence of activities in specific order and incorporates approval steps.
Regards,
Leila
