Hi Gurus!!
I am pretty new to SAP BPC environment .I am having working experience on SAP BW , and wanted to learn SAP BPC as well.
I understood that we use BPC application for planning and budgeting and forecasting purpose. It helps the organization to perform better .
I need to have clarity on the following points
1. How the business users plan ? How does they enter the data ?Does they input thru any kind of forms ?
2. Where does this data gets stored ?(i am thinking this data gets stored in real time info cube in the back end . Is it true ?)
3. Is analysis office is used as front end tool on top of SAP BPC system ?
4. Can SAP BPC application can be built on top of any third party data ware house application ?
i.e Does business must have sap bw application in their environment in order to implement SAP BPC as the planning application ?
( or ) Business may be using some third party DWH Application( for ex : Informatica )?
Awaiting for your valuable answers !
Thanks so much in advance

Teja

Hi Teja,
Please read all the help documentation on SCN regarding SAP BPC........It will definately help you a lot in learning BPC. BPC has 2 versions a version for Microsoft called as BPC MS and a version for Netweaver called as BPC NW which has BW as backend!
Read BPC 420, BPC 430 and BPC 440 documents to learn in detail about it. Latest version of BPC is 10.1!

HI Jp,
Thanks for your quick response .I will surely go through the links you have mentioned here .But due to time constraints i cannot go through it immediately .
I will be working on BPC Project from next week .Before that i wanted to get some idea about the above questions. Can you please answer briefly so that it will be very helpful for me
Thanks in advance
Teja
Teja...You have to read the links given above before you start working in BPC. Only answering your points will not help understand BPC! In detail information is required if you have to work on it.....
Still answering the points
Point 1 - The users will enter the data in input forms which will be created using EPM ADD-In Excel. Input form is nothing but an Excel sheet report created using EPMAdd-In. Business users will execute the same using Business Process Flow.
Point 2 - Depends on which version you are using MS or NW. If NW then yes in BW in a real time infocube which is created automatically when you create a model in BPC. in MS, data is saved in SQL database in forms of tables.
Point 3 - Not much idea about this...I guess this comes with the new BPC 10.1 Embedded versions.
Point 4 - No! But definately you can get the data from third party applications to BPC. If the client is planning to implement BPC NW then yes BW is required! To get data from third party applications there are various ways depends which applications are those!. But normally you would have to get the data in BW first and then get it in BPC, or load through flat files in BPC. This is all ETL related part.
Again please read and read about SAP BPC before starting........
Hope this helps!

JP
