Does Measures value should be blank or has a value ?

Hi Experts,

I am a bit confused of Measures value, when I tried debugging and see the data through CT_DATA, I can see the Measures column but all rows are blank. I have tried few ways to know how BPC works and save data, which are

1. Load Transaction Data using DM Package from Infoprovider, tried to add row of Mapping "Measures=*STR(PERIODIC)" , when validate, it returns error said Dimension Measures can not be found, so delete this row then loaded successfully

2. Run Script Logic to save data. I have created a simple logic to copy from Category A into Category B using *REC syntax such as *REC(FACTOR=1, CATEGORY=B, MEASURES=PERIODIC), this returns error said Dimension Measures can not be found, so delete the Measures then saved successfully.

3. Input Data through input template, in here I can select which Measures to be used to save data, since my Model is Periodic based, so I opt "PERIODIC" and saved successfully.

Upon tried inputting data with 3 above ways, do debugging, and see the data inside CT_DATA, all the inputted data has a blank MEASURES ( other fields have a value but this field is blank ), Is this how BPC standard manages saving data ?

Sorry for stupid question 🙂

Many thanks for any answers

Blank MEASURES column means that default measure of the model will be used. Data can be saved only to default model measure (PERIODIC for PERIODIC model, YTD for YTD model). Other measures are calculated by formulas.

Hi Vadim,

Just out of curiosity, is there any issue if I put a value of Measures (PERIODIC) as the result of BAdi? Meaning that, when we look at CT_DATA, some of data will have blank Measures and some of those will have PERIODIC Measures.

Many Thanks and Kind Regards.

According to forum rules - please accept the correct answer!

Second - if you are talking about custom logic then add line before badi call:

*XDIM_MEMBERSET MEASURES=PERIODIC

And you will see PERIODIC in ct_data 🙂

I have tried this line

*XDIM_MEMBERSET MEASURES=PERIODIC

but still when look at CT_DATA, the column of Measures still blank.

"Just out of curiosity, is there any issue if I put a value of Measures (PERIODIC) as the result of BAdi? Meaning that, when we look at CT_DATA, some of data will have blank Measures and some of those will have PERIODIC Measures." - I never checked this scenario with a mix of empty and PERIODIC. It may work! As an alternative you can clear Measures value for new records generated by badi or set PERIODIC for all records.

By the way, what badi you are developing? Custom logic or write back?

Hi Vadim,

I am developing BAdi Custom Logic, I think I will let it blank for all, same as standard. Many thanks for your answers !
