Dimension Member Gets remove

Hi,

I was creating a report via the "New Report" functionality of the EPM add-in in BPC. After I have selected members for one dimension (e.g. for the Account dimension) in the row axis and I have decided to move this dimension later to the page axis, then the selected member gets lost in and the dimension is linked to the EPM context member again. The same applies when the dimension would be first in the column axis.

For Example :

If i move Account dimension from Row axis to Column Axis then all the selected members will be there and nothing is lost. But if same dimension  i move from row axis / from column axis to Page axis then it will be lost or it will only show parent member but not decendants.

Thanks

Parag

Hi,

Previously what vadin said i agree with that why because if we take the multiple members in page axis it shows the performance issue .............

Hi ,

we can take the members up to 30 in page axis .this is the max limit to select the members in page axis .if you take the members other than 30 it will show the dialog box i.....e the max limit reached .

In general page axis was designed to have only single member per dimension. It's possible to select multiple members for single dimension on the page axis, but it will dramatically decrease report performance (actually the report will be requested for each member in multimember selection and then the results will be combined). That's the reason why by default you get a single member on the page axis.

Thanks to all for your response.

My exact issue is -

If i select Account dimenstion on row axis and selected parent member as Gross Profit and it's descendant member too. Now my report working fine. When i edit my report and move Account dimension as it is with all these member to page axis it should show Gross Profit as selected member. In this case no base members available. But for me it's not showing that member. When i check in context option there was some other member i.e. KPI but it was not lock. But system is picking that member. So do we have any such setting for it.

"When i edit my report and move Account dimension as it is with all these member to page axis it should show Gross Profit as selected member." - this is correct and you can't change this behavior!

And don't use multiple member selection on the page axis if it's not absolutely required... and only for a few members!

Exactly agree with you that we can't change this behavior. But for my case it's not Gorss Profit. It is picking member which are set in Context option. In context option KPI is there but it's not lock. i used to select Gross Profit but after moving dimension to page axist automatically it becomes KPI i.e. whatever mentioned in context option. So any EPM setting is missing from my end?

Can you provide clear screenshots to understand what are you doing?

And what is the idea behind moving some dimension from row to page axis? Why do you need to perform it often?

P.S. I was able to reproduce the mentioned behavior - when you have some manually selected account (parent or base members or combination) on the row axis, then when you move account dimension from row to page axis the member will come from context. OK, looks like it's by design... You can't change this behavior!

Actually recently our user upgraded EPM Add to .Net 4.0 SP21 PL3. And they are getting issue like this. and We are still on SP15 PL0 and for our case system is not picking what mentioned in Context option. System is simply picking Gross Profit. If you send me your email id i will share with you document with screen shots.

P.P.S. the logic is simple: if you move row/column axis dimension to page axis then EPM will use context member

Not able to test on SP15... but you can't work with SP15 - too old and has a lot of issues.

If  we move row/column axis dimension to page axis then EPM will use context member. But in my user case it is as per this logic.

But in my case it is not picking context  member. It was the same member which i was selected previously in page axis. And my user wants the same scensrio. He dont want context member to be use.

Sorry, you can always request some feature from SAP... and may be it will be implemented (if a lot of people will ask for the same). On the current SP level the context member is used! And I do not recommend to use old SP15!

Hi Parag,

Its BPC default functionality as you mentioned in context pane or in Page axis you can't select multiple members at a time so while you move your dimensions from Row or column axis to Page Axis by default it will show the Parent member for the member which you had already selected in the Dimension while it was in Row or Column Axis.

Incorrect, it's possible to select multiple members on the page axis!
