Difference between SAP Financial consolidation in web and SAP Financial consolidation rich client

Hello,

We use SAP financial consolidation through a remote desktop. We would like to move to an other way to connect and work on SAP BFC. We would like to use the web solution but it seems to be some functionalities differences between rich client and web version of SAP Financial Consolidation. I did not succeed to find exactly what is missing in the web version compared to the rich client one.

Can you please give it and explain it to me ?

Thanks,

Pauline Fargues

You can find this sort of information in the various FC Guides:

https://help.sap.com/viewer/product/SAP_BUSINESSOBJECTS_FINANCIAL_CONSOLIDATION/10.1.8/en-US

Note: It will display the Guides for the latest FC version and SP level but you can change it in the drop-down menu in the top right corner.

Typically, in most of our customer scenarios the majority of users are connected via FC web. For example for entering package data, central manual journal entries, running consolidations etc,

A few (ADMIN) users typically have the thick client installed, which gives additional, more admin- and design-related capabilities, such as access to Dimension Builder, Category Builder, Report designer, Tasks, Security etc.

In general, we recommend avoiding large reports of the size that they become unusable in FC web. There might be a way to re-design the report to reduce size or split it so that web users do not encounter issues.

Let us know if this answers your questions or if there are any follow-up questions we can help with.

Hello j.freon (Pauline?),
If you're talking about FC 10.1 Windows client (thick/rich client) and FC Web HTML5 client, the main difference is configuration capabilities: you have to configure system (data model, rules, reports and so on) using the thick client.
As for business users features, the difference is very slight - you can find out if the features you need are available in Web client by looking through SAP FC Web HTML5 User Guide and posts by stephane.neufcourt#content:blogposts: for example, 130+ New and Unique Features: SAP Financial Consolidation 10.1 HTML5 Web UI.
