Hello Gurus.
I am working in a Proof of Concept for a forecasting process. This is not a financial process it is a Logistic one.
The requirement is to allow users to load forecast at different level of a product hierarchy. My question is regarding to know some direction on getting this.
For example if we desire to input data at three different levels, should we create three different applications and the run some consolidation process?
Do you know if there is some design doc out there to read?
Thanks
Sergio
Hi,
Usually, BPC will not allow you to do planning on the parent level members. However, creating different applications for this doesnt make sense either. We have a workaround for this.
Lets say we are doing planning based on year dimension. You can have something like 2011.INP which is the input member for 2011.TOTAL. You can have 2011.INP as the base level member, so that you can enter values for that member. After you enter value to 2011.INP, you can run an allocation to base level members of 2011.TOTAL. Once the allocation is done, 2011.TOTAL will have the same value as 2011.INP. So, you will be able to see the same value in 2011.TOTAL as you entered.
Hope this helps.
