Hello SAP Community,
We have retroactively created a chart of accounts that we intend to use as our group chart of accounts. During the saving process, SAP prompts for the first account number of the chart (see example screenshots).
The problem arises when the length of the G/L account number is not specified in the background field “Length of G/L Account Number.” Despite this omission, SAP still saves the configuration in a transport request, which we consider a significant source of error. If the length is not defined, the account will never be transferred to the new chart of accounts, leading to a dead end.
In our case, we accidentally omitted the length, resulting in no usable account in the newly created chart of accounts. This prevents us from copying additional accounts, as the system only allows copying — not creating new accounts, even in the “Manage G/L Account Master Data” app.
We are now looking for possible solutions to resolve this issue:
Any insights or suggestions from the community would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance.

Hello @JustinTu,
thank you for reaching out.
You must create a new chart of accounts, and use this as group chart of accounts from scratch. Please ensure to fill the "Length of G/L Account Number" field, that is 10 digits, before you proceed.
Please create an incident with SAP using component FI-GL-GL-N-2CL for support with the deletion of the group chart of accounts.
