Delete Old Server Connection From BPC Report

Hello All,

Could you please provide some insights on the below requirement.

BPC Version - 10.1
BPC Cons Model - Management IFRS

Issue:

A user gets a username/password prompt in the report whenever he hits refresh on the workbook, The prompt is mapped to the old server connection that no longer exist.

Steps Tried:

1. Unable to delete the connection via logon pad but the Delete Button is Greyed out / Disabled.

2. We had already tried to change the old connection into the new one as mentioned in the below thread via Report Actions but no luck as we do not find the Change button.

https://answers.sap.com/questions/12837672/dap-conflict-in-mgmt-model.html

3. Tried to find and delete the old connections from the connections.xml file but unable to find the old server details in there.

As we cannot get back to the old connection we are unable to try enabling the option "Do Not Store Connection" via Edit report.

Kindly let me know if we have got any other approaches to delete the old server connection so that we can avoid the user authentication prompt while working on a report.

Regards,

Vinoth V

Hello Vinoth,

One way we found to remove the connection is outlined below. It is somewhat unorthodox and it has only been used on one or two reports so I don't know that it will apply to all situations as you have described.

1) In the Excel report, go to the 'Formulas' tab and select the "Name Manager".

2) In the Name Manager window you will see the connection (FPMExcelClient_Connection) and the tab it is referring to. If the connection you want to remove is in the “Value” column then select that one.

3) With the connection selected click on [Delete]. A window will appear confirming the deletion. Click on [OK].

4) Confirm that the connection name is no longer in the Connection Manager.

I hope this resolves what you are experiencing. Thank you and Good Luck!

Hello Eric,

Thank You so much for your response.

We had tried the approach you had suggested and it worked for us.

What about:

EPM Menu: Report Actions -> Manage Connections -> Report Connections

Hello Vadim,

Thank You for your response.

Yes, I had already tried (EPM Menu: Report Actions -> Manage Connections -> Report Connections) but the Delete button is disabled. I had also tried with the Edit button to replace the server details to the correct one but it created a new entry without disturbing the incorrect server.

There is no "Delete" button in "Report Connections"

There is "Change Connection" button!

P.S. Try to play with some simple report to understand the actions...
