Hello dear user,

And thank you asking your question in the SAP Community blog.

When you’re creating a company code in OX02 and filling in the address details, you’ll see fields for PO Box, Postal Code, and Company Postal Code. They might look similar, but they each have their own purpose and SAP doesn’t always let you use all of them at once.

So what’s the difference?

  • PO Box is used if your company receives mail at a post office box instead of a street address. If you fill this in, SAP assumes this is your main mailing address.
  • Postal Code goes with your actual physical address — the street, building number, city, etc. If you're using a street address, you need to use this.
  • Company Postal Code is kind of an extra field. It’s not used everywhere, but in some countries, companies have a special internal or logistics-specific postal code. Think of it like a secondary ZIP code used for large companies or complex mail routing.

Why can’t you use all three?

Mainly because it causes confusion for the system. If you enter both a PO Box and a street address, SAP needs to know which one to use for sending documents. In some cases, country-specific settings don’t even allow both at the same time — it’s one or the other.

Also, the Company Postal Code isn’t always active or needed. It’s more of a niche field and shouldn’t conflict with the regular Postal Code.

I hope this will help you answer your questions.

Best regards,

Jeremy
