Comments in BPC 10.1 Embedded (NW 7.5)

Hello,

We are migrating from BPC 10.1 Standard to BPC 10.1 Embedded. There are many open questions. One of them is comments in Embedded.

I know about the solution of aDSO and characteristic as key figure. This solution is limitted to 250 symbols, while we currently use 1300 symbols. Is there a way to have longer comments than 250?

If we use key figure model having Amount, Quantity, and Price as KF. Will we be able to make different comments for each KF separately?

Best regards,

Oleksandr

Hi Oleksander,

simply use a restricted key figure in the query, i.e. you restrict the comment key figure using a single value of the 'measure' dimension.

As in the above screen shot use Measure (Key Figure) as a key field in the comment aDSO, this characteristic should contain all technical names for the key figures you need. In the query simply restrict the comment key figure by Measure = <your key figure you want to comment>.

Anyway, the comments are data records of it's own and not linked to key figure values at all. This 'link' is pure convention that comes from the query design.

Gregor

Hi Oleksander,

the approach to 'comments' with characteristics as key figures is limited to the maximal length of a characteristic value, i.e. 250. In BW/4 2.0 there exists another, more general comment solution that does not have this limitation and is based on so called 'document stores' (a new TLOGO object assigned to a query).

With respect to the aDSO design for 'comments' using characteristic as key figures you can use a kind of 'account model', i.e. the aDSO contains a 'measure' characteristic and one comment field only, cf. the documentation that contains an example:

Thanks Gregor for your reply.

If I understood correctly, it is possible to make different comments for Amount and Quantity KFs. However, I do not understand how it works if there is one comment-value for every aDSO record. Do you have ideas?

P.S. I know about the better solution for BW/4HANA. Unfortunately, we are not there yet.
