#COE# PFS1 Mass maintenance business roles restrictions during updates

Hi everyone,

At each update, new restrictions are added to business catalog. By default, those restriction are ''blank'' in the business role that use this new business catalog and that are restricted.

We are under the understanding that we need to assign a value to those ''blank'' restriction (at less *).

Actually, I didn't find a way to extract all the ''blank'' restriction to identified with restriction in roles has to be assign. I didn't find a way to ''mass'' update it. So, actually, we open each roles, verified if there is ''blank'' restrictions and filled them one by one. Could you help me? There is certainly a more effencient way of doing it.

I have try to upload role using the download tool creating an XML file. But, the blank restriction doesn't seem to be export 😞

How do you do this kind of maintenance at each upgrade?

Thanks

Hi,

I'd recommend you check out the app "Manage Business Role Changes After Upgrade".

It provides a good overview of

  • which new business catalog dependencies were introduced in this release and which business roles are impacted
  • which business catalogs have been deprecated and which business roles contain it
  • which SAP business role templates have been modified
  • business roles are impacted by the quarterly release

In addition (on tab restriction types) there is the possibility to maintain restriction types across business roles. Simply select a restriction type, then select the business roles and select "Maintain Restrictions". Kindly note that restrictions can be maintained for multiple business roles if they have the same access categories.

Hope this helps!

Best regards

Anand
