Can'r create a new cycle using the newly created extended ledger.

Dear all,

I created a new Extended ledger "Z1" for management accounting purposes.
I want to carry out the allocation job using cycle after posting the expenses in the extended ledger.
I cannot specify extended ledger on the cycle creation screen.
I want to know if the costs posted in the extend ledger cannot be allocated.

Thank you.

Hello @suyoung_choi3 ,

Thank you for your question.

In SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, the standard allocation framework (e.g., for assessment and distribution cycles) currently does not support execution based on Extended Ledgers (e.g., ledger “Z1”).

 Key System Limitation:

  • Allocation cycles (e.g., for cost center or profit center allocations) are executed only in the standard ledger (0L) or in specific ledgers pre-enabled by SAP for legal/statutory reporting.
  • As of today, Extended Ledgers (like Z1) are not selectable in allocation cycle configuration and are not supported for allocation processing.
  • Costs posted to an extended ledger remain isolated for analytical or reporting purposes and cannot be processed in allocation runs.

 Recommended Workarounds:

Perform Allocations in Standard Ledger (0L)

  • Post original costs in 0L, perform allocations using standard cycles, and use Z1 for adjustments or managerial overlays.

Use Reporting Capabilities on Z1

  • Utilize financial reporting (e.g., Custom Analytical Queries) to analyse postings in Z1 separately without allocations

Thank you and best regards

Chuma
