BPC Restore option - Use Tech Names from Backup Files

hi all,

I am trying to restore the BPC from the production system to the quality system.

The technical names of the BPC Quality and BPC production system are the same. but the master and transaction data and dimension properties are different.

when i restore the option in the QA system , should i check the option : Use tech names from back up files option? or should i uncheck.

Hi hari73chin,

Not sure why are you restoring environment from your production system back to quality system. Usually BPC environments are transported from dev to quality and then to production system through standard NW transport framework.

The technial name here in the UI of UJBR refers to the name of info-objects and info-providers generated in BW. If the environment in your production system was transported from quality, the same tech name should already exists in your quality system.

Thanks a lot for your quick response.

reasons for the back up and restore in the QA.

There were some changes done in the production system directly rather than from QA. both maintaining the master data as well as creating or changing dimension properties. .hence the QA and the production system are not in sync.

So we are trying to take a back up from production and restored to QA.

since the properties and the data are not in sync.

should i check the option to use :

Use Tech names from Backup files or not ??

Hi hari73chin,

Then it's a tricky move. Usually we don't recommend this approach at all. But if you decided to try this way, you need to first delete the environment from you quality system, and restore the environment with 'Use tech name' checkboxed MARKED.
